Power fault disrupts Circle Line train services on Tuesday
I quote: A power fault disrupted Circle Line train services from Dhoby Ghaut to Marymount stations in both directions from around 5.30am, SMRT said in a statement on Tuesday morning.
From Dhoby Ghaut to Marymount in both directions..... in other words, the entire current Circle Line, no?
the entire line was down...
zora was late today.. her colleague called her from serangoon about it...
the fiasco there was worse.. 2 MRT fellas hanging around the gate, not telling anyone, no announcements, nothing.. until people went to ask them then the 2 told them about the breakdown...
everyone then went and tried to shove themselves back onto the NEL.. which is already dangerously overloaded at the best of times...
And they want to open the rest of the Circle Line next month? Sure boh?
And with 7 minute-intervals? Does that CEO even know about the hordes of people who go to Science Park/NUS/Pasir Panjang every single morning?

you think the hag-troll CEO gives a shit?
for someone who dun take the train, I dun think the CEO cares a bit
there's something about women bosses that just rub people the wrong way I suppose .... lol
there's the MRT woman .... then there's the WRS woman .... then there's of course, Ho ching ... and overseas there's the recently fired carol bartz at yahoo .....
and condi rice ...
I get the feeling that quite a few female bosses just try too hard to prove that they are just as good as their male counterparts. Never mind that they have already shattered the glass ceiling, or that there was probably never one to begin with.
In the process they end up stepping on more than a few toes in their relentless pursuit of proving that the glass ceiling can be broken.
It's a bit like how I was quite turned off by the Singapore Women's Everest Team a few years ago. To quote their expedition leader:
Jane Lee, team leader of the Singapore Women's Everest Team, said: "Few people believe that a group of women can stick together for so long to climb a mountain, and I think fewer people believe that a group of women are capable of climbing a mountain together.
Gosh, I never thought that way about women mountain climbers. I was all aboard with supporting them, but since they want to think that men like me still look down on them, then they can do without my support.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
you know what's the problem with female bosses ? .... they enjoy playing little power games all the time ... they never forget that they are riding above you, and they'll never let you forget it either .....
the exact same thing applies to petty men too .......

Nvm, tat butt...
one of my fishing buds just caught a 4 feet long barracuda trolling off singapore's coastal waters ... -__-"
I think petty male bosses are many times worse than a female boss
And some men are so darn petty I really suspect they have monthly periods
as my favourite (female) writer, han suyin, puts it ...... it's "the tyranny of little men" .....
that's why condo security guards, some puny striped police officers, hotel receptionists, small orpid clerks, some NS NCOs etc, would behave badly and squeeze your nuts when they could .....
I think shrinks would call it the abu garib effect ....
Yeah the illusion of power
They don't see it as being pathethic
I think it is actually also the management style which tends towards being more micro managing. Not just the pettiness.
it's an occupational hazard for a lot of people ......
anal retentiveness .......
of course, more so among the mandarin and bureaucrats .......
I would imagine that once you rise up to "management" ... you should trust the fellows below you to "sweat the small stuff" .....
Do people think there are any gender related characteristics that come into effect? e.g. tendency to be motherly. Not a sexist question, just seeing if anyone might know of any links.
From my experience, it came down to the manager's experience and style. Both cases where my female boss were disasters (company wide), were mainly due to the fact that their path to get to where they are today wasn't one with much substance. In turn, they use approaches that are not effective or do things to make up for their weaknesses.
The female boss that was not bad had some proper credibility and experience behind her.
To me one of the problem may just be that these people were promoted up the ranks. Sort of Peter's Principle. They are promoted due to their past performance instead of being appointed to the job because they are good or will be good at doing their job.
Therefore a lot of them just become bad management.
Or if you believe the Dilbert principle, they are promoted because they are incompetent and evil
is it school holidays? Seems like there is a troll around that is very free.
