Barefooted or quasi-barefooted running is a bit of a fad which I doubt would ever catch on. As much as I agree that a good running gait is important, I seriously doubt that I want to cast off my shoes in order to achieve it.
I quite enjoy wearing them for long walks/hikes. The merrells are a good alternative for those who do not want to stick out in a crowd or have problems wearing the five fingers due to unusual toe lengths.

and yes, people look like complete dickheads when they wear their five fingers in anything other than sports attire.

This kind of thing hard to quantify
Also depend on the child's personality so really up to the parent to make the judgement call.

This I will have to agree.
Wearing Vibram FiveFingers in running attire is acceptable enough.
Wearing it with your street clothes just makes you susceptible to being pointed and laughed at.

me thinx love/care and discipline are both important, but in terms of caning......dunno if there's a need to go that far.
Though, if not then how? Seems like not something that is acceptable in today's society.

I was at Buona Vista, waiting for no.95 to go to campus.....
Then the bus came, and one stupid woman ran onto the bus bay to try to be one of the first to board. The bus driver had to e-brake and blare the horn at her.
Seriously, what's wrong with some people? What would she prefer: waiting for the next 95 to NUS, or waiting for the next ambulance to NUH?

i wonder.. if she was hit and turned into mincemeat, you'd be the witness and you'd have to say it was 100% the stupidity of the woman which caused her own death...

If she was hit and I was the witness, I'd probably end up in handcuffs for whooping with joy....
After all, there would be one less source of stupidity to be passed on to the next generation of mankind.
So yeah, natural selection would be weeding out the gene for idiocy.

More than a year ago, when I still took 95, some arse was so kanchiong to take the bus that his head was hit by the side mirror as the bus entered the bus-bay. Quite a resounding KONCK I must say.

Yeah well, the M'sians are worse.
Taking the 30 second frequency monorail previously at KL, I was shoved and pushed and squashed, and I had to fight back using my 20kg bagpack to push the f*ckers out of my way.
Never came to that extent on our trains.
