Waaaaa........upclass.
I'm gonna have cheap cheap lunch as usual. And cheap cheap dinner.
Okay..... yesterday's (retarded) rubbish bin-removal exercise at NUS made it to today's papers....
The intentions were good in that it was meant to teach people to be less wasteful. However, its implementation was extremely stupid. All it resulted in was lots of rubbish flying around all over NUS.
If they had wanted to teach people to be less wasteful, they could have simply replaced the rubbish bins with recycling bins. Certainly a few IKEA wastepaper baskets adorned with recycling signs would have served the purpose at low cost.
Anyway, what's the worse of two evils - rubbish placed properly in rubbish bins, or rubbish being thrown indiscriminately for lack of bins?

They were smoking some damn powerful weed.
And the stupidest things always get to the news.
Like the "eat alone" campaign.
Which was IMO....just plain stupid.

eat alone??? wat the "forever alone" campaign was tat for????
I don't see why there is even a stigma attached to eating alone.
If anything, I find eating out with colleagues to be a massive waste of time. You have to wait for everyone to get ready, you have to wait for a table that can fit everyone, you have to wait for everyone to order, you have to wait for the slowest person to finish eating before you can leave..... you get the point.
More often than not I just eat alone at the canteen.
If people give me strange looks because of that, then that's their problem..... I am simply being more time-efficient than they are.
Look at this:
It caused us undue trouble in the canteen when all we wanted was to makan and scram.
'This campaign really encourages people to get out of their comfort zone. I think it's because Singaporeans are more conscious of themselves, and therefore find eating alone to be a bad thing when it really isn't.'
Sure of not.............
The only reason why I don't try to eat alone when I can is because lunch is a good opportunity to catch up with my friends. Not because I am afraid of eating alone what.......and if I need to do some stuff, obviously I'll eat by myself and scram in 15 minutes.
well, I guess eating alone is personal preference...
Eating in a team foster bonding... u can talk abt work, gossips, etc etc... u can get lotsa information during lunch...
but tat's just me... whether eating in a group or alone is a preference and shld not be forced or influenced...

When I eat alone, I don't see it as me occupying the whole table to myself.
If you want to sit at my table, then go ahead and do so. Just ask me first as to whether or not the other seats are occupied. People have asked me that countless times, and I've always accommodated them.
As acid has said, eating alone and eating in a group are personal choices. There should be no stigma attached to either choice.
If I choose to spend more time with friends at the canteen, then that's my choice. If I choose to eat alone because I want to get back to work quickly, then no one can diss me for making that choice.
