She believes in you. Jia you!
strange,, the sino travel case....the passengers at airport refused to board the plane with no info when they go shanghai?
now i find my local tibet tour guide very responsible.. She requested us to go down to agency for a full pledge briefing of itinerary where we stay and hotel we are to check in..
She informed us that we have to fly there by ourselves(with the other tour members too) and meet her at the chengdu airport as she will fly there earlier to arrange all the china/tibet arrangement (make sure tibet visa pass is done properly, that one is crucial)..
Everybody has everybody contacts.. and we have her contact at china too..
She even call/email us one nite before departure.. just in case we forget our date to board.the plane
when we reached chengdu, we was there receive us with open arms...
*thumbs up*

whole entire group going to shanghai.. they have no info, no nothing... travel in charge/tour guide did not turn up..
got worried to land in shanghai and unattended.. all did not board the plane..
jialat..really..
nowadays apparently it's common for travel agencies to hold a briefing before the departure date .... to clear up situations like these ....
but I think it's been nearly 2 decades since I went on a packaged tour ... own time own target is better ..

i think that info and briefing is necessary to keep the customers informed. at least to be responsible and let them have a peace of mind everything is properly prepare and the customers know what's is going on...
tibet was my erhem..1st packaged tour? no choice, tibet need to be "escorted" throughout my journey there...it's the govt guideline :D

okay, i need help.. me friends (5of them) and I planning to go Thailand, bangkok, Ayuthaya, river kwai (they wanna do the train thingY) and then where should we go?
I have been to phuket and pattaya before, one of them went to krabi before..
timing: 11 days...
me and fatumnette are heading up to bangkok again in late august .... when are you heading ? ...
ayuthaya is just basically ruins plus tourist traps to trap the tourists touring the ruins ....
river kwai is in kanchanaburi .... you can take the train to the place ... but be warned .... the train goes at the speed of a clopping horse .... the trip is seriously long .... faster to take the bus from bangkok .... takes only a few hours ... there are house boats to rent over there .... you can stay on the river if you don't mind roughing it a bit.
if you like nature and trekking there are a few really nice national parks out of kanchanaburi town .... there's all death railway thingy like hellfire pass etc which they show to every singapore army boys that go there to train (our training base is in the outskirts of K-town ... so you may just run into NS boys on their nights out). You should go to erawan national park ... I really enjoyed hiking there .... there's a series of very nice water falls you can trek up and swim in .... with fishes that'll suck on your toes and eat the dead skin .... original fish spa .... there's also khao lam national park ..... another very national geographic like location ... the other big one, sri nakarin, is actually a giant dam ... like lake kenyir .... but there are house boats you can rent also .....
why not go to the beaches east of bangkok ? ... like rayong and sattahip and the islands beyond ? ....
it's like phuket without much of the trash and ang moh lager yobs ....

i copy your post and send to my friends for reference.. we have no clue where to go..:P
My next trip will probably be a nearby beach with a reef and good water visibility. Ngapali? Kho Phangan? Phi Phi? Pulau Redang?
I suppose you don't like crowds ? .....
try this place .... koh kood ....

I'll remember that. When's the monsoon period for these places?
andaman sea monsoons (phuket, krabi etc), can get pretty bad ..... you can't even swim off the north side of phuket right now ...
on the east coast, the monsoons are pretty mild .... i've gone and dived there from september through to december, supposedly right smack in the middle of the monsoon on the east coast, with no probs .... seas a bit more choppy offshore, vis a bit worse than the dry season, but still good ...
koh kut is famous, now, for it's six senses resort which'd cost you a kidney per night .... but note that koh kut has zero night life ... when I was still in thailand, the place was just beach shacks and backpackers ... totally unspoilt ...
if you want a wee bit of partying, then it's koh samet, there are some thumping beach bars with an international crowd at sai keow beach .... you can snorkel off the rocky points or you can sign up for dive or snokelling trips offshore ... I remember I got a scare from a really big barracuda during one of the dives ...
you can make your way from bangkok's airport to ekkemai or eastern bus terminal, and there are buses to pattaya, sattahip, rayong, trat and beyond .... I suggest you stage to pattaya first and then stage out from there ...there are some really cheap digs in pattaya, and it's not all sleeze really .... don't believe the bus timings, the buses do take a bloody long time cos they'll stop very often from chonburi onwards.....
note also that beer and food is more expensive the further out you go ... in those islands everything has to be shipped in and a beer can cost 3 times (to around singapore prices) the price in pattaya. Though I remember a meal in trat, right by the cambodian border .... scallops, prawns, crab, lobster, seasnails, fish, horseshoe crab salad, plus beer, for only 700 baht ....
now you do!
evening
Fail!
cardboard's latest bullet train kena electricity rationing.
wonder where's LF?
*limps in painfully ....
