I'm going to follow Gacky's example and ask for some recommendations for my 3-week trip to GB (England, Scotland and Wales). Nothing's confirmed other than my air tickets and some arrangements to meet British friends. Here are the places that I have lined up:
- London (I'm limiting myself to 5 days in all at the start and the end, planning to see Westminster Abbey, the British Museum and the National Gallery. I'm not sure if the Chelsea Flower Show is worth a look)
- Northampton (possibly a day trip out to see a friend)
- Salisbury (cathedral, Stonehenge and a friend)
- Cornwall
- Gloucester (?)
- Manchester (Old Trafford = piss off, seeing friends there)
- Isle of Man (if I can find tickets and a place to stay for the TT race)
- Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond (I'm not big on Loch Ness though but the Shetlands and Hebrides are tempting)
- York
- Newcastle
I'm on a budget and don't have a lot of time, so I won't add many more cities. Suggestions on places to go to in the places other than London will be great.
And yes, I'll bring back a bottle of whisky - it'll be either Talisker or Laphroaig.
aww,,,lucky u :D
maybe u can visit my hd office at Manchester..:D
the art museum, leiceister square, bayswater for the duck rice/noodles (if you don't think it's odd to go all the way there for chinese food), the parks in london
you could also take the hop on/hop off bus or do the walking tour
scotland: i didnt do this but my friends did the ghost+castles tour
smith street
kingcross
tower bridge
It looks like this now: London - Salisbury - Newquay - Bath - Cardiff - Manchester - Glasgow - Skye - Edinburgh - Newcastle - York - London
KB...i got this off my colleague

I'm not really a fan of the Bard or Wordsworth and I plan not to cluster my days in Bath with Jane Austen.
10 days to go! Eeek!
wow your itinerary looks challenging even for a 3 week holiday.... alot of travelling to do. Was there in Edinburg for 2 days and also the Highlands for 5 days and that was not enough. We drove up from London to Midlands and then to Edinburg and seriously, the driving can be fun but yet takes a toll! But in any case, if you had done your planning, the best thing to do now, is ENJOY!
I made some changes but it all worked out in the end. Time to close this thread, I'll start a new one to describe it.
