home from work... today, while going to work, encountered people who think the lines on the roads are "racing lines" and drive on them..
on the way home, encountered people who take the extreme right lane and then drive at 5 to 10km/h UNDER the speed limit causing traffic build-up behind them while there's empty road in front of them...

just how much did you eat?
strangely, i went through the whole of last year's CNY without eating a bit of the bak kwa..
and very little of the other stuff too
actually ..... that was the last slice in the box .......
so I guess it was about a kilo less a few slice for patches ......

there's lard, fatback, suet, the caul which is used in peranakan food...
Iron Chef is Michael Symon.. he LOVES pork... his favourite fried food is pork rinds...
the Iron Chef just broke out a fillet of elk! shoving fat into the fillet which is a good thing.. elk looks.. the guy says very lean... the fat will flavour and tenderise the meat
btw.. lard is used in one of my all time fave desserts, Orh-Nee
the yam should be just yam and sugar.. a bit of pumpkin... then finished with shallots in rendered lard, heated to intense levels, poured over the stuff and folded in...
that's the traditional way, none of that bullshit coconut milk or gingko nuts which doesn't appear in the original recipe and takes away from it
