it's V-day and i'm home ! .......
celebrated yesterday with fatumnette already .......plus both of us just recovered .....
wonder if it'll be crowded out there tonight ...
Actually I've been thinking...
Dr M might actually be scared of Lau Lee. Because the Sinagapore Inc footprint is now everywhere worldwide.
So he would find ways to kachiow us. Like crooked bridge (but sorry, VLCC and mega vessels would run aground in Straits of Johor).
But I guess he gets more fed up as we become more resilient against his kachiowing Esp knowing e 1st water agreement is not going to be renewed.

you know what's more disturbing ? that there might be people who'd swallow his horseshit about not treating singapore as an enemy ....

awww.. c'mon.. there's chocolate pork chops which i hear taste wonderful..
and also, not so long ago, you were the one telling us you'd vote for a worn out slipper instead of the MIW

remember also that I told you I'd hold my nose a little more recently and vote for the MIW ? ....
well, I'm now convinced that they are a neccessity, I disagree strongly with the brand of politics certain sectors of the opposition are pulling. I think of it as not so much keeping the PAP in power, but to keep these other fellows out of power ......
and judging from the comments floating around in fb groups and the forums here, many singaporeans lack the emotional maturity for a really civic and participative democratic process to work anyways.
I'm very happy the SDP is coming to my neighbourhood, that means I can count my vote against them ..... once upon a time I'd perhaps have simply voided my vote, now, I'd put a cross besides the lightning bolt and be very happy to do it.

The prob I think is because the whole place is runned by 1 group of ppl...
but maybe there's pockets of ppl who might have e skills to run e country...

you just fell for it, hook line and sinker..
the opposition isn't just the idiots in SDP.. there are others...
the SDP are just making a lot of noise.. and the MIW are counting on that.. to tar everyone with the same brush...
and you fell for it
p.s. just because i hate the SDP, does not mean i have to love the MIW... and just coz i hate the MIW, doesn't make me pledge my allegience to the SDP... or have to vote for either.. my enemy's enemy is not my friend in this aspect...
I think M'sia still dun have tat sense of emergency one...
the country will go bankrupt with their ways.. no joke
oh talked for 2 yrs till now no news...
Hopefully when the JB lorry CIQ moves to e integrated complex, it'll be 24 hrs. Or else Woodlands Rd will see havoc at night as the drivers begin cutting queue

perhaps so, but it will be, and it must ! be a long and gradual process before a viable alternative bloc emerges, will it happen one day ? maybe, but definitely not in 2011.
The MIW is not perfect of course, they can be high handed, a tad arrogant, and slow to acknowledging policy mistakes and oversights, but when I cast my vote, I look at the big picture, it's not even about past performance anymore, or personal greviences like the cost of COE or housing prices or the price of my daily kopi O that should motivate me, but continued future stability.
It's not even about whether the PAP is doing a good job running the country or not, the question in my mind is, who else can actually do it ? Running a country is a whole different ball game from being an opposition gutter sniper, and frankly, looking at the crop of opposition candidates, I think it's foolhardy to imagine otherwise.
and I tell you, the political scene in singapore is going to be a lot more divisive in the future, because of the brand of politics certain sectors of the opposition is introducing. Did you read catherine lim's column in the straits times last week ? When the PAP becomes a goverment of conviction to one of consensus, that's probably the beginning of the end.
No one would dare to confront hard truths after lau lee anymore, for fear of getting booted out at the next election, we'll end up like the countries of the west, with each party telling the voters what they would like to hear in turn, screwing the country to the brink of bankruptcy in the process, and worse. Except that we as such a tiny country, have a much smaller margin of error before we are truly farked.

I've nothing to say abt COE.. but housing yes.
Actually sometimes the best brains are not always picked up.
i know..but to tar all with the same brush = we will never ever move. we will never ever improve, we will never ever change
politicians are scumbuckets and douchebags at best.. they will eat away at the people no matter which party they come from...
if we don't force their hand to serve the people instead of themselves, we will find ourselves facing the things in Egypt maybe in many years from now...
or we put the fear into the politicians.. that we, the people, are bigger than they could ever imagine.. and make them start living up to their title of "minister" which is to minister to the people....
we only need to show them the only we we can

the SDP is just an example, who else ? let's see .... an ex quitter who spent most of his working life in britain, and still speaks with a british accent ? ...... you suppose a chap like that would have his pulse on the grassroots of the society ? SDA ? .... they can't even make peace among themselves ... and chiam looks even more frail than lau lee recently. workers party ? they've gotten effette too ....
Like I said, it's no so much about keeping the PAP in power but keeping these chaps out of power.
it's not likely i'd get my wish anyways. the MIW's states goal is to open the ground to more opposition, with the goal of at least 9 opposition mps in the next parliament.
But fark if I want an opposition MP at MY neighbourhood .....
these chaps, don't let them in...
others who actually seem to serve the people, let them in...
it's that simple
p.s. if you believe the MIW, i have a few used cars i can sell you...
in other news, some Thai airlines is hiring...

well, when the fear for their jobs become overriding, then you can only expect douchebag politicians who'd do what feels good to you, instead of doing what's neccessary for the betterment country.
Just look at the UK or the US for example, successive goverments are screwed over by the opposition, and by the people with their votes, cos no goverment has the balls to say, this needs to be done ! Cos they know, they'll be screwed over and lose their jobs at the next elections.
now if one were to examine dispassionately the political systems of these countries, what sort of conclusion can you draw ?
and really, don't you think it's a bit far fetched to compare us to a basketcase country like egypt ? which of us here in this forum is starving ? doesn't drive a private car, stay in a house, goes for nice holidays overseas, and can pig out as and when we like ? Perhaps, as they say, you'll only recognize heaven when it's gone ......
Actually ppl have to start thinking of the day w/o MIW
