I tell my students, 'Hand in your assignments to your class rep, who will then consolidate and place it at my desk in my office'...... and some still hand in one by one.
I tell them, 'Please don't hand it in one by one at my office, because I share it with several other postgraduates and I don't want you to disturb them'.... and they still turn up.
I tell them, 'Deadline is 1st September, 1pm. No late submissions entertained except for exceptional cases'.... and one guy still wants to negotiate handing it in next week.
I tell them, 'Tutorials are not held every week, please check the schedule properly'..... and some still turn up when there's no tutorial today.
Sigh...... freshmen.....

You should just set ground rules. any that don't go through the class rep will be thrown out and taken as not submitted.
Late submissions will be ignored and pleas will be ignored
