  my friend asked me this "If the glass is broken. Will you say 'the glass is broken' or 'the glass broke'?

  Is 'the glass broke' grammatically correct? Or both of them can be used depending on
  what you mean?"

  i wonder if its a trick question because both sounds alright to me.

  i think both are correct. It depends on how the question is?

  1. What happened to the glass?

  It broke.

  2) Is the glass broken?

  The glass is broken.

  "the glass is broken/the glass was broken" = you got there, and saw that the glass was already broken

  "the glass broke" = you saw it break

  "the glass was broken by XYZ" = XYZ broke the glass

   

  p.s. english is a funny language

  And she dont want to sell those top up phone cards or her mlm food stuff.
