Almost failed to make it back.....we lost the entire port shaft-line. Decision was to anchor outside base till tml to try to rectify the problem first. Miraculously we managed to save that shaft 2 hrs later.
In addition, one of the computers on the bridge crashed.
You should have seen my CO's face.

You guys almost lost a propeller shaft? That's pretty serious, isn't it?
And why did the bridge computers crash? Are they running on WinVista?

Windows 2000.
No....we didn't lose anything, but in our jargon, to "lose" it means it is inoperable.
I drove the freakin ship in the early morning, and next thing I knew I lost control of it, when the computer I was using crashed.
By the time we gained control again, we had drifted 5 degrees off course and I got whacked on the head for that.
On our way back, the port engines shut-down and we had to stop to contemplate the risks of going back on one propeller.

So the ship's propulsion systems are controlled by an application running under Windows 2000? Is this something to be worried about?
See, you guys wouldn't have to worry about being stranded by an engine shutdown if you just carried a set of oars aboard! Didn't we just discuss this a few days back?

The oars would have worked.......but the ship would probably have capsized. I forgot to add that we got back listing to starboard at around 5 degrees.
sian.. just finished preparing my chemistry presentation. now?

So you guys had to deal with an engine stoppage and minor flooding??
I think the navy should return the ship to the builder for warranty work, since it's obviously defective.
evening... MG, Pasir Panjang Wharve mainly handles Ro-Ro & conventional cargoes

Ah, you're referring to my question from yesterday? Thanks for the update.
So are they adding container handling facilities and gradually phasing out the handling of conventional cargo?
bloody hell, my eyes are tired from doing the propaganda video

*me mysteriously appears in a puff of smoke*
Just got back from ICT.
But still got some dumb unit cohesion day at a Safra club tomorrow. I must go - otherwise, cannot outpro.
Anyway, for my section live-firing, my section got marksmanship! $200 in the pocket!

Does the unit cohesion event at SAFRA tomorrow feature free food, beer and women?
