Shock for me when I first moved here too.Originally posted by Wanda:![]()
It must be such a culture shock for them when they come go Sg.![]()
Same thing on the bus I take to and from work. There's this semi-regular rider named Dan, a slightly older gent working as a IT manager in a large insurance firm downtown, who always sits next to me when he rides the bus, and insists on striking up a conversation with him doing about 80% of the talking. It doesn't matter if I'm reading a magazine or listening to my MP3 player--since he gets on after I do, he'll always plunk himself down next to me and start yakking.Originally posted by jetta:Not just Australians, Americans too. I've partially gotten round this situation by waiting for the bus to fill up a little before boarding at my stop, thereby increasing the chances that I'll be able to secure an aisle seat, with the window position already occupied, so there won't be an empty seat next to mine when he boards later.
Doesn't always work, though, as there's no guarantee that the aisle seat across from mine will be occupied by the time we get to his stop...
Yeah we get emotionally tired from all the nonsense they spoutOriginally posted by jetta:Not just Australians, Americans too. Yeah and their dirty linen are really dirtyOriginally posted by Wanda:Ahh...no wonder these westerners like to go on tv and wash their dirty linens in public. Doesn't it seem rather....erm.... self-indulgent, to always want to talk about ME, ME, ME!!
I remember watching a couple of episodes of Judge Amy (or something like that..the reality tv show), and I thought: Oh my goodness, these ppl are just so sad...and they are displaying their ugly selfish behaviour for all and sundry to see.Originally posted by elindra:Yeah and their dirty linen are really dirty
Some of them you swear you see streaks of shit on them![]()
Sometimes I feel like a shrink, you know? Like if they see that you have a happy marriage, they'll come to you for marriage advice. However, I have to tell you that after 15 years of living among them, I think I've become like them in certain ways.Originally posted by elindra:Yeah we get emotionally tired from all the nonsense they spout
I just don't understand how come they just can't stop talking
For me I can't talk too long or I will lose my voice
I think it's due too all the coughing when I was a kid![]()
If you think that's shocking, you should come over and live among them and see the drama.Originally posted by Wanda:I remember watching a couple of episodes of Judge Amy (or something like that..the reality tv show), and I thought: Oh my goodness, these ppl are just so sad...and they are displaying their ugly selfish behaviour for all and sundry to see.

just like my friend who was going to sell me an okd unused turntable. he set it up to ensure that it was still working, listened a bit and decided not to sell because it sounds quite good!!Originally posted by viciouskitty74:I think the scooter knows I am going to sell it off.
So surprisingly....it has been performing above average these few days.
On the flip side, some Westerners do perceive Asians as being somewhat reticent and standoffish in social situations...Originally posted by elindra:Yeah we get emotionally tired from all the nonsense they spout
