Sad to say singapore having a sterile environment with limited acting talent cannot fight with Hk movie like infernal affairs!
So who's watching sg production new world during CNY??
I rather watch this during CNY next week!
Sg media company just invest in HK and mainland movies no need to waste time and money to do local productions lah
賀片 are normally rubbish whether they're from hk or sing....
i think if u asked Eric Tsang, he will definitely agree with you....purely for momentary good laughs and profits....
before we blame on bad scripts and producers.....the local artistes need to be thrown into hostile acting environments to pick up the hard way...then they will start to talk naturally and polished on the screen...this is what we call "creative frustration" ... of course licking up to the directors or political management of the media industry is another hard truth besides all the hard work....
Beijing Academy...HK...are just some of the hostile environments that hone global celebrities....aside to good scripts and producers...if u cant act, sing, dance, or at least have a rare talent in any creatives.....u r just a condemned no class artiste...
look at JN....he is hitting for the Malayans...his talent is well polished and matured...the exiled Godfather of the local productions.....well.....if there is a will there may be a way
I was hard pressed to choose from CNY movies in the theatre and in the end I grudgingly took Green Hornet, there was really nothing to chose from.

licking up to the directors or sleeping with the directors??
Green hornet not nice? Well, I guess perhaps bruce lee wasn't there.
Jack Neo movies only screen during CNY...................otherwise, no one wants to see his junk !
so predictable and tiresome.................
i rather watch D-grade zombie movies..................
I think the problem with movies from Singapore is not that it is plain, but rather when you try to infuse multi culturalism and life in Singapore, that movie will end up having 4 languages in it like Malay, Hokkien, Chinese and English. It can attract local audiences but people who are not good in these languages or overseas viewers will find this a turn off. Hong Kong movies comes in 2 standards, pure cantonese or mandarin.
i suck
