  came across this 1hour documentary on nat geo. for those interested in a rare glimpse at what life is like, in isolated north korea.

  a camera team smuggles their equipment into pyongyang on the pretext of documenting a humanitarian mission by nepalese eye surgeon Dr Ruit. 

  bill clinton secured the release of these guerilla reporters just last year. 

  darn funny scene on the 38th parallel where north & south korean commanders/soldiers stare down at each other without even blinking. i wonder how they made it out with the rushes intact.  wonder what's the fate of those north koreans they captured as well...

  i saw one where a bunch of western doctors went into N Korea to operate on the people who had cataracts....

  it took a LOT of negotiations for them to go in to do the sight-saving ops..

  the moment the bandages came off some old hag, she was crying and praising and worshipping Kim Jong-Il and not the doctors!!

  the place is a mess.. and pretty scary shit goes on in there

  what's the name of the docu u saw? 

  exactly the same scene in this one! one patient after another knelt infront of kim jong il's portrait in the hall, some swearing to slaughter all americans with their newfound sight. unbelievable. no soap, no water, beer bottles used for IV drips over there... really sad. infant mortality rate was said to be 40%, mostly due to mal nutrition.

  i think it's the same one.. it was on one of those cable documentary channels, Nat Geo i think.. i can't remember the title... but it's got Lisa Ling in it.. she also did a few others like max security prisons, gangs and drug factories...

  i think it wasn't really the crew that was arrested by the N Koreans.. i think it was actually Lisa Ling's sister was arrested by the N Koreans for the documentary... which is seen by everyone as an act of vengence or something equally stupid and disgraceful...

  the max security episodes were great! no wonder she looks familiar in Inside. 

  now looking for propaganda films made by  the s. korean film maker kim jung il abducted years ago!
