Mind thinking shocking movies?

  Anyone hear about a Japanese movie/ anime "death note"? Or anyone seen a Jap drama/manga called "Liar game"?
  
  They both have an outstanding plot in a very clever and intelligence way to out-wit each other.
  
  I don't not know what type of genre it belongs to exactly but most likely "mystery" + "psychological".
  
  Anyone can recommend me some movies/drama/anime with a plot that is - someone needs to think a step ahead from the opponent in a way that viewer did not predict. Something like "wow - why can't  i think of that" type of movie.

  You are actually talking about a very classic genre! Detective film noir that was all the rage in classic Hollywood! (Think Dick Tracy in the comic books or batman)

  Movies which have something like that:

  "Revolver" but it's messy all over.

  A better one to watch would be FIGHT CLUB!

  Who can forget fight club...

   

  For an asian version, it's "Infernal Affairs" (obviously). It's all mind games, plots and plot twists to the end.

  memento - lots of clues provided by writer director (christopher nolan of the dark knight fame) throughout the lead character's investigation into murder of his own wife. the form is complex, but not unsolvable. diagrams, timelines and calculations have been drawn by many to perform this dissection.  

  mulholland drive - open to many forms of interpretation but imo many clues were given throughout the whole show as well and they point to a logical ending. excellent show for detective wannabes.
