the last time for me is a spanish film called fermat's room which is about a group of ppl trapped in a room that shrinks if they don't solve maths problems correctly...
Nice film, something similar to cube.
Equilibrium
"Equilibrium" IS by Hollywood.
The company that finances and produces it is Dimension Films which is like a branch of The Weinstein Company which is a subcompany of Miramax Studios. IE. It's Hollywood trying not to look like Hollywood! Even "Juno", "American Beauty" and basically almost all Oscar films belong to this category too.
Really non-Hollywood... seldom make it to the cinema's here. If you wanna catch them you will need to go to those niche screenings. An example would be "A Snake of June" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330904/
I think you are referring more to non-mainstream films rather than non-hollywood. Yes yes it's a technicality... Sorry about being anal retentive.
My most recent non-hollywood film would be "The Road Home" by Zhang Yimou which is before he got famous. Another more recent film would be "Dinner with Murakami" a 2008 documentary which we screened at The Substation.
hmm...it's quite easy to find foreign horror movies in cinemas here if not on dvds like rec or kaidan, let the right one in, also there are a lot of taiwanese and korean films in cinemas here...
