Why Singapore does not make much movies

Why do u think Singapore does not seem to make much movies...?
HK produces a lot of movies, even up till now it still produce movies although greatly reduced after the age of internet piracy etc. But HK has always produced movies.
Although Singapore is half the size of HK, I dont think Singapore make half the amount of movies compared to HK.....
What do u think is the reason for this?

Not enough entertainment.... some hk movies got guns but singapore does not have, some hk movie got RA movies (+18) but singapore does not have... that all!

I have my own theories...but I want to listen to others views first.....
There must be some reasons for this.

no market? mostly regional and only few directors.

Limited market appeal. Jack Neo, Royston Tan, Eric Khoo have limited appeal. I mean look at Jack Neo, his movies sell out locally but beyond our shores? The brand of local dialect too localised to be accepted mainstream elsewhere.
HK movies have a much wider audience than just HK per se.

Singapore market small, is correct....but it doesnt explain everything....
For instance, somebody mentioned HK movies can travel beyond HK...but not so much in the case of SG movies...which I think is true to a certain extent...so this can be one of the factors...
Why do u think this is so...?

SG movie is in the malaysian market what. look at those jack neo movies lor.

U need yr have a local market to sustain yr profit first before can venture out ma.
Our market is too small. Somemore diversify by so many races, even smaller.
At least HK, 7 million population are all virtually cantonese speaking audience.

actually not i wanna bash my fellow countrymen or what lah, i mean to be honest we really lose out in the creativity factor when we compare to those HK and etc film makers, not to mention they are more established.I mean good films know no boundaries, as long as your film is good, it can hit any shores and be a pop.
