The star power of Fann Wong, Christopher Lee and Jack Neo has not been enough to make their Chinese New Year movies profitable.
Although Fann and Lee's movie, The Wedding Game, and Neo and Gilbert Chan's Love Matters have made more than $1.6 million each at the box office since opening four weeks ago, the movies are unlikely to recoup production costs.
The Wedding Game, directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham, cost US$1.5 million (S$2.3 million) to make, while Love Matters, rated NC16 because it deals with mature themes such as impotency and sexual needs, was budgeted at $1.3 million.
Woohoo ST Life reported that Wedding Game has already overtaken love matter - $1.65 (started 25 Jan) vs $1.64 mio (started 22 Jan), and WG in Malaysia at RM3 mio
Already more than 3 weeks, Wedding Game still in the chart #7
Still lose money. She knew she has lost her star appeal and yet she wants to appear in movies. Why make ppl lose money? She's old and her career is declining. It's time for her to keep low profile.
