Not really, the origin of wing chun is still blurry. There are a lot of stories about who, why and when it was created. Same like the drunken fist, still a myth about it's origin. -

I just watch it on dvd borrowed from my cousin . Its one of those rare movie which combined strong and right morals of a martial artiste and smooth and fast actions . There are a few movies esp western ones which keep empthasising on pride and honour but end up is like more of promoting violence like telling pple to use their fist to solve problems . Some shows like wong fei hong which are rather high rofile about their gung fu and competing in open matches .
But in this show Ip Mun accepted to fight in his house and keep quiet abt it to the public even though he win . And also he doesn't go around showing off his martial art .In fact to me he seem more like hiding it and only using it for a good purpose or when theres no other way out .
Ip Muns char reminds me of what my discipline teacher in my sec sachool told me when i need her to sign a form for me to learn martials arts . She told me that " under normal circumstances , pretend that you don't know martial arts . Only when there is really no other way out and your life is being threatened then you use it . " And i find her advice very good cos once when my classmate try to playfully punch me , i just use my hand to block it , he go ard telling alot of pple that i know martial arts and some of my other classmate really tried to beat me just to test my martial arts for the fun of it which i find very irritating . And once one of my classmate being a teakwondo black belt tried to hao lian want to show off one of his throwing moves , only to find that i manage to land safely just beside him and looking at him . Its not that i trying to show off but i always believe that no matter how good you are , there are always someone better then you .
And last but not least i really hope that the same cast will do the Ip Mun 2 movie instead of someone else . Cos i find that this movie has the best combination of director , action choreographer and actor . ... The scene where Ip Mun son cycling out of his rm to tell his dad to fight back really makes me and i believe everyone to laugh . Its just so comical .
