Just saw in mypaper that they are raising their tickets by $0.50 for non-blockblaster movie and $1 for blockblaster movie from 31 Jan 08. The new price will affected all the timing.
Monday to Thursday before 5pm will cost $7.50 for non-blockblaster movie, $8 for blockblaster movie.
Thursday after 5pm, Friday and public holiday eve before 5pm will cost $8.50 for non-blockblaster movie, $9 for blockblaster movie.
Friday and public holiday eve after 5pm, public holiday and weekends will cost $10 for non-blockblaster movie, $ 10.50 for blockblaster movie.
For Cathay, when a movie is produced to a cost of US 100 million and above, it will be considered as a blockblaster movie. The 1st movie to cost $10.50 is "Iron Man".
Just a note for all avid moviegoers.

Why $1 more for blockbuster? Doesn’t blockbuster mean more viewer, which mean higher demand? With a higher demand, wouldn’t the likelihood of that cinema's seat be filled, higher compare to non-blockbuster? So u are charging more on shows that sell fast but charging less for shows that are only 1/2 sold most of the time? If so, would the cheaper cost of non-blockbuster ticket, hence lower profitability, spell the doom for all non-blockbuster films?
But i guess if u will to increase the price for an already under demand shows, it profit will only hit even lower. So to offset this, the only wise move will to be selling blockbuster at a higher price and rip as much profit as u can. At least it helps sustain those less profitable non-blockbuster shows. I can only hope that cinema dun get too greedy and start showing less non-blockbuster and jam packing it with Hollywood blockbuster. Amway, the cheaper cost of non-blockbuster might even help improve the sale and provide audience with a greater variety rather then it being dictates by Hollywood what we should watch.
doesnt affect me...i tin i watched less than 10 movies fr the day i was born
anyway as long things increase, its not a good sign for consumers
Cathay service and all better than gv...i went to cathay amk hub, and bought the popcorn afew minutes before the show wan start.....they tell me to go in first coz they will send the popcorn to us......

for a simple reason. blockbluster is more expensive for cinema.
The cost of copyright for that movie is much much more expensive.

Yeah, but blockbuster earn more, that is why more expensive. Else why show more blockbuster shows if they dun make money? Also, why are all the shows selling at the same price before but not now?
