It's a nice story set in the late 40's or 50's...about these 2 poor Irish kids with a disappointingly useless, drunkard father, and their very poor and harsh lives during their growing up years. Their poor mom have to find all means to survive and bring up all the children (some of whom did not survive). In the end, they migrated to NY, like many other Irish immigrants did at that time.
The book is interesting and opens up my eyes to Irish culture, a bit of their historical hatred for the British, their religion, their resilence and their love for Guiness.
The author is still living and has a 2nd follow-up book called " 'Tis " but that's not as good as Angela's Ashes.
Erm...I did not watch the movie.
