It depends on which year is this show trying to recreate. Zhao Yun (Zilong) was born in the year 168 AD. He was moving around serving different lords, like Gougsun Zan and Yuan Shao during his 20s. In 208AD before the oncoming battle of the wall of fire period, Liu Bei had to abandon Xinye and seek refuge with Liu Biao as told by Zhuge Liang. A mass 'exodus' followed him while Cao Cao was hot on pursuit with his "1 million" troops. Liu Bei lost his family in the midst of the chaos and Zhao Yun turned back and into Cao Cao's path to find Liu Bei's family.
