1. How can the two kids sneak outside a highly secured area? Why the soldiers did not prevent the two kids from leaving?
Ans: The movie already told you from beginning, this is the first time kids are allowed to stay in the city. Therefore there is not yet any established procedures how to deal with kids. Kids know how to find loopholes.
2. "how those infected can differentiate between those who are infected and those who are not"?
Ans: those infected have not lost their senses.
"Why can't anybody who is not infected pretend to be infected so that they won't get bitten?"
Ans: Nobody dares to try.

Ans: There is always lax in security, no 100% perfectly secure security system in the world because human always make mistakes. The Americans are too proud of themselves they thought everything is under control, the virus is already dead. Try ask yourself why got American soldiers die every day in Iraq if their security is so good?

Ans: How characters develop is not the message they want you to know . If you want one, the black guy who flied the helicopter initially did not want to save anyone except his comrade. But in the end he felt remorse, and saved the two kids.
Movie review of 28 Weeks Later -
Okay i saw this thread but actually watched '28days later' first. The music played on when the English ran for their lives was awesome! Then i watched '28weeks' later starting the guy ran 2.4 and SOC with a bunch of 'other' guys wow the same music again - awesome! Then the English version got soldiers' shouted 'stand-to' reminds me of BMT and then the Americano version all snipers and Delta forece and FIBUA and killing of civilians also awesome!
One thhing is for sure after 'Dawn of the Dead' zombie movie makers are going to make zombies faster and more intelligent!
You might not want to buy the 2 movies' DVD but you should at least watch them once.

Wait for the World War Z movie adaptation next year. I've just finished the book and it's awesome albeit too short for my liking.
PS: WWZ zombies are walkers but what they lose out in speed they make up for in numbers. 600 million zombies worldwide. Heheheh
I like Dawn of Dead also but I still prefer slow zombies. Maybe its because of Resident Evil games. I also have high hopes WWZ will accomplish what the RE movies failed to. RE movies sucked sweaty donkey balls -
