The partner film to Flags of our fathers, this show provides the japanese perspective on the battle.
My Review:
Ok show for me, BORING ALERT for some who cant stand draggy shows.. u may just fall asleep during it. A ton of japanese and little english.. need to read subtitle all the way.
But compared to flags of our fathers, i think this is a better show.

since both movie are draggy, might was well combine the 2 films into a single movie.

These kind of movie must go cinema watch then shiok. Screen big big then can see many special effects. For those HK movies, no point go cinema, just wait for VCD. Local productions???? Worst. Wait for VCD

The battle at first warrant officer Jima has a significant page in the History of WWII leading to Imperial Japan's defeat. It is the nearest island to Japan's shores and securing its position meets undisrupted air support, replendishment and a landing zone for all aircrafts, logistical supplies and troops. The position falling into the enemies' hands (in that situation - the Allies) meets the Americans can use Iwo Jima as a launchpad for the final attack against Imperial Japan and force them into unconditional surrender.
In this context, a bird in a long flight will understand and appreciate it the most. -

they got bombed continuously after the the surrender of the germans, yet they still held on, only when the government knows that USA has the ability to destroy them totally n won't hesitate to use it, did they succumb to defeat. -

I am never interested in what the history text wrote during my secondary school days and i certainly did bad for my sec 2 history. But i did good on the tests and sections on WW2. After my school days i frequent libraries and the internet for any more read on WW2 and i happen to learn about the battle of IWO JIMA here. I think US threat prisoners better than the other Allies. I am not trying to stereotype them as the real good guys but you can take Nazis Germany for example. After the war the country was splitted into 2: East and West. Perhaps doing the very basic mathematics an invasion of the main Island of Japan may result in more tragedies and bloodshed with even more casualties of soldiers and civilians on both sides.
Like i said the high ranking bas tards would probably insist their soldiers to fight to the last man if it wasn't for the fear than the next bomb would be dropped over Tokyo and their own offices.
