watched the movie on it's release weekend here ... very very inspiring story ....
the chap was so down and out at one point he had to sleep in the toilet of a subway station with his son ..... -
Will Smith is nominated for the best actor oscar for his role in the movie.

i'm reading the book now, it starts from young till present, its a damn great book! those who watched the movie and liked it should buy the book , only about 25+.

In case you guys don't know, Will smith started as a rapper in the group 'D.J Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince", a duo with Jezzy. They did released a couple of music album and their music/ rapping takes on a lighter touch of society and the blacks community. That was about 14 years ago and concurrently the comedy series 'The Fresh prince of Bel-air' was shown.
Other celebrities who took the singer-actor transition includes Mark Wahlberg, brother of Donnie Wahlberg from NKOTB (New Kids on the Block). Mark Wahlberg was featured a decade ago in his own group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. -
