  Rocky is now a retired boxer who owns a restaurant named for his beloved wife Adrian, who passed away from cancer in 2002. Their only son, Robert, has entered the corporate world and works at a firm in downtown Philadelphia. The relationship between father and son is strained; Robert feels resentment about living in the shadow of his famous father.
  
  The sense of stagnation that has gripped Rocky since Adrian's death begins to lift when ESPN televises a computer simulation of a fight on a television program. The virtual fight pits Rocky (in his prime) against the current champion, Mason "The Line" Dixon. The simulation causes a change of heart in Rocky; though he has not fought professionally in years, he begins to believe he still has "some stuff in the basement," and decides to start fighting again, but only on a small scale.

  that's because i went down to suntec yesterday and visited Eng Wah cinema. saw the poster there.

  I found this Rocky film a predicatable block of cheese. Despite this, I have to say that the boxing is the most realistic out of all the films. But then again I didn't want to see 'real' boxing. I wanted to see good ol' cinematic styled slugging like in all the other Rocky films. All the big swinging hooks and haymakers. That's what made the previous films (minus rocky V) such great films. I don't wanna see jab jab jab hook jab jab jab duck jab jab jab etc...
  
  And whats up with the 'bad' guy? He's a pussy compared to Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago. Even Ivan Drago conveyed more personality than Mason Dixon. Christ almighty! Okay he may be a real life world champion but he can't act for anything. He has as much personality as a wet tennis ball. Sorry champ.
  
  And I could see the Rocky/Little Marie narrative a mile off. I could go on all morning about how shitty shit shit this film is but i won't spoil it for any of you who will go and see this film.

  I enjoyed Rocky Balboa tremendously, even though it was formulaic and probably a carbon copy of the original in terms of telling an underdog's tale. Written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, this is very much his comeback movie as it is for his character Rocky Balboa, when the fifth installment of the franchise was considered the weakest of the lot, and a let down to its predecessors. When the movie was announced, many people sniggered and wrote it off outright, as being nothing new to offer on the table, of letting dead dogs lie, that Stallone was out of ideas and needed to revisit past glories to try and get his career back on track.

  lets hope Stallone retires the Rocky series while it is at the high and not make any more sequels that might kill it, like "Son of Rocky" or something.
