  i enjoyed this movie alot
  the ending song by jay sux though
  
  and the fighting scene was nice lei
  the silver army vs gold army
  wow
  
  at least this time zhang yimou ending is nice
  his hse of the flying dagger ending sux big time, super lousy.

  I would call this movie underwhelming. Mildly entertaining but nothing more.
  
  The director tries too hard to create a spectacle (eg opening scene, overuse of garish colours, etc.) but more often than not, he elicits nothing more than a -yawn- from the audience.
  
  Still, I hear that this is a box office hit so at least a handful of people (director + producers) has enjoyed the movie.

  sadly the movie didn't even made it into the selection for this year Oscars' Best Foreign Film category.
  
  i'm betting my bottom dollar zhang yi mou is gonna make more period we xia movie until he wins the oscar.

  Why sad? The movie doesn't deserve an oscar nomination. I think this is the beginning of the end of the West's infatuation with Wu Xia movies.
  
  Already, we have seen a glut of lack lustre wu xia movies - eg The banquet, Golden FLowers.

  indeed. the judges probably sick of seeing wu xia films running for best foreign film at the oscars every year. time for zhang yimou to rethink his direction.

  Do u guys noe, there are some bloopers in the movie...
  
  1 scene, the place where there they put the yellow flowers...these are actually pots of yellow flowers...
  
  But when the battle scene begin, u see them marching on those flowers...
  
  n those flowers turn from yellow to red, as blood were shed, but if you look carefully, you only get to see boides n flowers....but not these pot???
