only with the Matrix opened up by Ultra-Magnus was Unicron defeated..

It was Hot Rod who managed to open it. In doing so, he became Rodimus Prime.

Anyway, I can understand why Megatron won't turn into a pistol for this life-action movie. It kinda requires a huge suspension of disbelief to accept that a large two-story robot can somehow shrink into the size of a pistol.
At the same time, though, I don't think they should turn Megatron into a tank. They should turn him into a 155mm howitzer or something... then at least the idea of Megatron transforming into a 'gun' is still there.
After all, in the animated movie, Galvatron could transform himself into a cannon. -

Hey guys , actually before this so called new transformer movie . In japan there already is a new transformer series done by cg graphics . I must say it was very impressive and the concept has changed . Now they activate something like power chip to arm themself . Sad to say only my friend has the serial which is still not due to be released in sg as from what my friend told me . Because japan does not plan to release here yet , yah i also thought transformer was those cartoonish type but when its done by japan , no way . They really put in alot of effort into it and made it a computer graphics show , don't worry the standard is far much more better then the crappy beast wars which was also done by cg but it sucks big time . I only watch a few episode on my friend laptop , can't remember much liao .
