i was kinda expecting them to update sandman into the 21th century. but in the end they decided to go with the classic design, namely the horizontal green stripe t-shirt. oh well.

Flint Marko aka Sandman, while on the run from the police, sought refuge at a nuclear test site near Savannah, Georgia. Hmm... how does the 2nd Green Goblin tie into all this? Otherwise the last part of the second movie (the scene where Harry Osborn turns into the Green Goblin) wouldn't make much sense.
To be frank, I think they shouldn't have added that scene at all. If they had wanted to bring the Green Goblin back in Spider-Man III they could have just added that scene to the beginning of Spider-Man III. If Green Goblin isn't returning, then that scene seems kinda pointless. -

In the comics, Hobgoblin accidentally stubled upon one of the Green Goblin's secret hideouts. venom and carnage would be super cool though..
As for Venom and Carnage... they would have to come up with an entirely new origin story (like the ones in the Ultimate series) for the two of them if they want to include it in the movie. The original origin story (in the Amazing series) for Venom starts from the Secret Wars... don't think they can squeeze all that in. -
