Monty (starring Ji Jin Hee), a muse, appears in Shanghai with a mission, he yearns for a taste of geniune human emotions and puts himself out as a beacon for lost souls, drowning in the bitter sea of love. Lin Jian Dong (starring Takeshi Kaneshiro), is the star in a new musical helmed by renowned director, Nie Wen (starring Jacky Cheung). LinÂ’s co-star, Sun Na (starring Zhou Xun), is an old flame from a decade ago.
Sun is in a relationship with Nie, who made her a star. When the ex-lovers meet at a press conference, Lin is hurt by SunÂ’s indifference towards him. Now the hottest stars of their generation, the romance of their past is rekindled as the production of the musical progresses. With the trio in the throes of jealousy, hatred and passion, the muse steps in to stir the pot...

I didn't thought it would be nice also... Especially when often these 'lovely dovy' movies are often not my cup of tea...? I THOUGH.. LOVE MOVIES just for the sake of LOVE are JUST TOO ARTIFICIAL....
But STILL... I WATCHED it ANYWAY... LAST NIGHT... Perhaps it's just because I've got this 'WEIRD TASTE' for 'OVERLY ARTISTIC MOVIES'... Something which perhaps can give me a DIFFERENT TASTE on my TASTE BUD...
STREET LIGHTS... 'NEW YORK, NEW YORK'... A COMMERCIALISED ATTEMPT for the GROWING LOVE for 'ARTISTIC MOVIES' PERHAPS...?
NOT QUITE...
This movie TALKS MAINLY about 'LOVE'... Somehow reminds me of this another movie 'Simply Love'..? YET, while it TALKS ABOUT 'LOVE'.. It DOESN'T just simply 'BURN' and 'GRILL' it to ITS MAX... ONLY appropriately touched.. And SIMPLY BROUGHT OUT...
Somehow I found it VERY TOUCHING from scenes to scenes within the MOVIE.. And it's REALLY UNCOMMON and RARE for this Devil to be 'TOUCHED'... And somehow I'm just not quite sure if it's the MOVIE ITSELF... Or is it JUST ME...? Of some of the similarity it holds in my life....
Of RELATIONSHIPS... SO SIMPLE and yet SO PURE AT TIMES.. But human's HEARTS and SOCIAL NEEDS to COMPLICATES IT... Of QUESTIONS like asking yourself "What you really want...?" And YET just when your heart SO MUCH DESIRES IT, at the same time it just BURNS ANOTHER HOLE IN YOUR LIFE...
Of all the 'misunderstandings'... DELIBERATE (and non-deliberate) MOVES to HURT.. But YET REGRET...
All in all, I think the show is a 'GREAT FIT' for Jacky Cheung who has just got the CHANCE to SHOW BOTH his SINGING and ACTING TALENT in this picture...
Takeshi Kaneshiro who has always been my 'soft spot' for love movies...
And Zhou Xun... For reminding me of someone..... -

I fell in love with the introductory analogy. Life is like the movies, in which you are the director, producer and the star. In your life, there are other co-stars, and of course, that significant other. But what if you happen not to be sharing the limelight in your other's life? Editing is always a pain, and in the final product, you will then learn if you are sharing the same billing, get relegated to a cameo, or in the worst case, get cut out entirely and lie on the floor of the editing room.

In my opinion, it has a good story line and very unique for asian industry to produce its own musical movie (excluding the typcial hollywood movies). Although parts of movie resemble moulin rouge, overall, the filimg and musical plays were fantastic.
Worth watching.
