George A. Romero's 'Land of the Dead' is the long-awaited return to the horror genre he invented, beginning with 'Night of the Living Dead' and continuing with 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Day of the Dead'.
In this new tale, Romero creates a harrowing vision of a modern-day world where the walking dead roam an uninhabited wasteland and the living tries to lead "normal" lives behind the walls of a fortified city. A new society has been built by a handful of enterprising, ruthless opportunists, who live in the towers of a skyscraper, high above the hard-scrabble existence on the streets below. But outside the city walls, an army of the dead is evolving. Inside, anarchy is on the rise. With the very survival of the city at stake, a group of hardened mercenaries is called into action to protect the living from an army of the dead.

After "Undead", "28 Days Later", "Dawn of the Dead" remake and "Shaun of the Dead", much of your nerves should probably be quite dead enough to be scared by the cheap thrills in this one.
Gore fans might want to wait for the unrated DVD to come out instead.

The bad guys aren't the zombies, so don't expect any climatic showdown battle between the humans and zombies. -

You're probably referring to the recent remake of "Dawn of the Dead". That, however, was not made by zombie director Romero, but by newbie Zack Snyder. This movie is also not the sequel to that, so you wouldn't see any familiar characters (other than the zombies) at all.

1. "Night of the Living Dead"
2. "Dawn of the Dead"
3. "Day of the Dead" -
could be another B grade horror movie.
