Is the movie nice? I love the books when young, but dunno whether worth to watch the movie ornot

Johnny Depp is a very versitile actor.
Anyway, this is like one of my fav books when I was a kid so maybe I will catch it to see if it is any different -

well, the movie is good, but i wouldnt rate it excellent
the really cool part are the CG effects and that they follow the book closely
the part i dont like is that some parts dont follow the books, nehmine, but turn out to be ..weird, like the flashback to the past and the last part of the show.... -
