  sowrds # 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 outfront won't make a difference except in length of the blades and the edges...if they are single or double edged, whether the blades have jagged edges or are porforated but they should not make too much noise due to their slimmer blade design ...all these factors including the weight determies how lethal the weapon is in combat...but of course this only a movie...the selling point are still plot, story line, cast, costume and design etc.
  
  only to make things special or to capture attention but i think sword #6 makes a lot of noise even when housed in the scabbard and sword#4 (shortswords rather) has a disadvantage when 2 equally skilled swordsmen are locked in combat when one uses it while the other uses a longer or broader blade. Look out for this sword and i guess (i haven't watch the movie yet) this guy's gonna die first in the movie. Sword #3 broad blade is good in a massive slaughter or when surrounded by numerous foe.

  This movie is pretty good, it certainly one of the best wuxia movies released in recent years. The cinematography is top-notch, and the action direction (by Lau Kar Leung who also plays Fu Qingzhu in the film) is just superb. The duels here are gritty, exciting, superbly executed and captured on film, and most of all believable (no flying humans ala Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). The locations were great, and I loved the way the camera moves to show to show the beautiful landscapes. Other eye candy also comes in the form of Charlie Young, Korean actress Kim So Yeun, and Chinese actress Zhang Jingchu. Overall, this is quite a good-looking movie.
  
  My gripe with this film is that certain scenes seemed a little rushed, and certain plot points not very well explained. The numerous instances of love-at-first-sight between the characters were also where i felt where the movie began lose it.
  
  But hey, if I were a damsel in distress, I guess I might also instantly fall for Donnie Yen's heroic Chu Zhaonan. He is just so cool. And his weapon, the You-Long (Dragon) Sword, must be coolest weapon conceived since Bu Jing Yun's 'Jue Shi Hao Jian' in Feng Yun. The other 6 swords are pretty interesting as well.   IMO, the movie is well worth the $9.50 ticket price I paid. So go watch it!

  just watched today... cool.... very long.......is it under RA or nc16 in singapore??? the starting is quite violent...then that charlie so funny lor.... but very tulan they never talk much about the 1000 yrs old sword..... maybe saving it for part II ..... the fighting scenes is so fast lor.. really hope they can have bullet time effect for all the scene lor.. si bei power.... my favourite will be the scene where they fight in a narrow alley..then fighting on the wall too...really fighting 360 degree lor.. every possible and impossible angle also got....should watch in cinema first time.. then buy DVD for slow motion...

  Actually they Tsui Hark is known for those fast actions of SwordFighting Scenes.
  
  If they make bullet action sequences they might look like a remake of The Last Samurai. (Not Original).

  Any1 watched yet? ..I just watched yesterday.. i feel that it isn't really worth watching.. the story isn't smooth.. the only scene i appreciated is the fighting scene of course.. but then again.. during some fighting scene.. the camera angle anyhow 1 nia.. very hard to see properly...
