this story revolves around the crusades la.. when christians become so blinded by religion, they forgot that christianity revolves around the love of God, and they start using the word God to justify their actions, "kill these people, God wills it."
so in the end... is it men's will or "God"'s will
that's what happens when men becomes selfish and ambitious, and start twisting religion to serve their own purpose.
the crusades started off with a noble dream, to create a new "perfect" world, but was ruined by evil men.
by the way, the people wearing the red cross on their armour are the catholics.
the other group wearing the green armour are the christians. that's why u hear the word pope here and there.
i just felt it was funny that the priest said "convert to islam, repent later.."
anyway. at the ending, the king of england, that fellow was richard the lionheart, he was featured in Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves, as the brother of Robin's bride. quite cool

The Order of the Knight Templars, formed during the Crusades in the 12th century, were actually deeply rooted in the code of honour and faith. They were initially warrior monks with humble beginnings, who fought only to extend the glory of God. Having renounced all the pleasures of life, they faced death with a proud indifference; they were the first to attack, the last to retreat, always docile to the voice of their leader, the discipline of the monk being added to the discipline of the soldier.
Such a reputation made them revered among the ecclesiastical and nobility in the Middle Ages. The popes protected them, and they were often regarded as above the law of the land, being accountable only to God. However, with such power given to them, corruption soon began to seep in as new members were recruited in secret initiation rites transparent to the authorities. Powerful enemies of the Order also started heaping accusations of secret crimes committed by the Templars during the Inquisition trials. By the time before their suppression, the Order had become so discredited that many members were either condemned and burned to death by the papal commission, or absorbed by a rising rival order -- the Knight Hospitallers (Knights of the White Cross) -- of which, in the movie Balian's good friend (played by David Thewlis) was a member. -

First of all, there's not story for you to take back home. It's all about senseless fighting. They don't even know what they are fighting about. Yeah yeah, religion, for your people, bla bla bla and the reasons. The fight would have had more impact is there was a build up from somewhere. In this case, there was none.
As for the plot, I can't remember any, seriously.
I regretted playing $9.50 for this movie.
And due to the price hike in tickets, this regret will stay just a bit longer. -
