  well, in term of packaging, i'll say that code 1 is better. content wise, code 3 and code 1 are the same.
  
  advantages of code 3 is that in some films, they have duel sound in chinese, it's funny, like watching harry potter speaking in chinese.
  
  not to mention the price, it's cheaper than code 1 too.

  Region 4 PAL version out next friday 10th Dec down here in Perth
  DEfinitely getting this to join my other two LOTR EEs..
  Sometimes only minor additions, but the little character moments are fun to watch too, really add to whole experience
  Anyone else getting the Collector's edition with teh bonus 5th disc about Howard shore and the score? Will be nice to see live performances of the music!

  just read First Magazine, the price for the Code 1 extended version is $79.90, collector edtion is $150.
  
  while the The Lord of the Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy (Special Extended 12 discs DVD code 1 Edition) cost $240
