I'm an absolute fan of Kevin Smith and if you haven't heard of this director's name... perhaps you would recognize some of his works
Jersey Trilogy
Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay and silent bob strikes back
Jersey Girl
In case you didn't know, he is also the actor of Silent Bob
Too bad most of these movies aren't available in Singapore.
Anybody have any of his movies or watched them before?
I just bought Jersey Girl and hopefully can start my collection of Kevin Smith movies soon. hehe but everything have to be ordered from overseas *sigh*
BTW he was also the guy who helped Ben Affleck become famous (in a way). affleck stars in at least half of his movies.
His production company (View Askew Production) also helped to produce Good Will Hunting. -

but his movies got some substance at least unlike the latter -
honestly Jay and Silent Bob strikes back was like one of his worst. He usually has a lot of sarcastic "subtle" social comentaries in his movies that comes out in very crude forms that sort of make fun of the whole thing... (im not even really describing it very well) and JSBSB is just... plain stupid. BUT some of the fans who SPECIALLY love jay and silent bob (who appears in most of his movies as side characters), this movie was like da bomb! coz it was like a special tribute to J and SB.
Jersey Girl was considered by some of his hardcore fans to be sappy. some silly romance comedy but i think it was really good. just cleaned up (no dope and sex and smokes like all his other movies) inspired by the fact that he became a father i suppose.. and various other reasons
Dogma is something i am dying to watch. It is about fallen angels, devils, god etc. and Alanis Morrisette was casted as God.

I guess i can't help but be upset that Kevin smith was compared to the falley brothers. HELLO falley brothers is all about slap ass toilet humor.
yes you are right, kevin smith HAS substance. and while falley brothers always got some farm theme... kevin smith is more... alternative / comics / intellectual subculture... (aka more dialogue)

Well it was originally a comic book then it became a TV Series
and NOW...
Kevin smith is actually writing the screenplay for the Green Hornet Movie!
He just completed and submitted the screenplay a few days ago

it was even heavily criticized in the US ...
doubt it'll make it to singapore that way
anyways im trying to get my hand on a copy
and maybe we can have a movie screening
i havent even watched good will hunting! ehhehe
but i watched clerks and mallrats.. now just need chasing amy to complete the series -
