Ok here are the questions...

I'm like entering BMT soon..after my A Levels that is...kinda interested in a career with the SAF..but got a couple of questions so hope the officers in the SAF out there can help me...
1) For pilots: I've observed several pilots who went for training only after being commissioned. i.e they train as army officers first ..learn the vocation graduate and then train for air force pilot..is this advisable to take this route if i am interested in being a pilot? Obviously it seems weird to have pilot trainees who are officer cadets and commissioned officers training together...
2) Any SAFOS or SMS Scholars out there?..Care to share your JC profiles so that I can take a gauge as to what kind of pple MSC is actually looking for...what is crucial and stuff..apart from the fact that you have to perform really well in BMTC and OCS...
3) MTA Scholars...share ur experiences too!...really curious abt this award...sounds exciting...anyone been to US Air Force or Naval Academies?
4) What is the job vocation of a Guards Officer like?.. Do you have to go through infantry training first before undergoing guards conversion course?
5) Anyone who has been through Ranger Course care to share what it is like or about?...what is it for and stuff...
6) Naval Officers!...what kind of jobs do u guys actually do?..care to share ur job scope?...the officer job descriptions they have is really kinda vague..like naval officer..speaks volumes abt the job ehz...=p...

if you are sure you want to be a pilot, i don't think there is a need to waste time to go for other vocational training.

naturally they will look at your results. and of course there are interviews to go through.

btw, there do not seem to be many scholars in this forum. they just get bashed up if they identify themselves as such.

infantry, guards and commando officers go through the same OCC training and commission together. guards officers subsequently go for GCC. afterall guards are just more specialised trained and "elite" infantrymen.

there is currently a thread in Military Nuts on the ranger course.

i believe they do publicise and promote the different naval officers, e.g. naval engineering officers, technical officers, etc.

Yup..kinda interested in the three services...have spent like my whole secondary school and JC life figuring out the strengths and weaknesses of each vocation...or rather the stuff that interests me...not that there're non-essential units in the SAF...so now that the time is coming soon for me to decide..i'm kinda at the crossroads... haha...for now..the path ends at bmt..after that everything else seems blur...of course uni is a must..

i think in the end what matters is your interest, and where you think you will be proficient in - that is if you are sure the military is your cup of tea.
i would recommend not taking it up just because it is the most obvious step, or because it is what many others, are doing, or that it is the step that many guys with good results are taking.
take time to find out, and if need be, decide only after you have tasted bmt. your perception would be more accurate by then. -

And SAF only offer Specialists position for pre-enlistees, as for those awards that you list are meant for officers
