take the contract and sit down with the HR manager
They have the right to pursue further, but I doubt they will do so. if you receive a letter from them demanding payment if not legal action will be taken. just ignore and dun send a cheque/bank draft to them. its a hassle to employ a legal firm and also its not cheap, mind you. your 1 month of salary may not be enough to pay off the legal firm.
why you post here instead of at employment forum eh?

ok............
alot of people upon receiving a letter from the company, are scared when they read if payment did not receive by so and so, if not legal action will be taken. some immediately send payment cheque of 1 month to the company.
as mentioned earlier, its a hassle to follow up and its not cheap for a legal firm to send you a letter. I doubt there is a follow up to the company letter sent to you.

yes. I doubt the ocmpany will pay you for the 3 days of work. how about going to see an MOM officer on this issue.

cant be so cheap ba. if not any tom dick and harry can afford to pay and send frivolous legal letter to anyone.

never mind, i just treat the 3 days as as experience of being led by a manager with poor leadership

makes sense... but if they have close frn in law who can draft free then different case already..
what company are you working for? what is your job designation? why do you want to quit after 3 days?

it is quite a big company in Quantity surveying. As an Admin Executive. don't have chemistry with my manager.
Could tell that if stayed, problems will surface.
But what work did you do in that 3 days?
TS, may I ask how old are you? so what kind of work are you looking for?
cheers

nothing much. The manager herself has just been promoted 2 years so still unexpereinced but very snobbish already, nose in the air type.
She treats her staff with rudeness and arrognace. When i went lunch with her, she walked far ahead of me leaving me alone like a maid.
The big reason i resign was cos in this company, even my manager had not much authority. Imagine, simple letters she also could not sign. She had no right to make decisions which should be done by people her level.
Thus, if manager already no freedom, what above me an executive?
Lastly, there was no freedom in work. Nobody could use their own company email example [email protected], but could only use the department email. So when an email come in, whoever see it 1st must work on it. Where is the sense of responsibility? There will be also of blame pushing;''no i did not see the email. no he should be the one etc''
All working adults yet treat each one like kindergarden, micromanage!

if they sue you and you lose the case, you will also have to pay them their legal fees

Whoa...that really sux. Imagine you had to send an important letter during lunch and couldn't get the signature because the big shots aren't around.
I assume it's a full time job? But I think it's better if you go back and have a talk with their HR dept to settle this no matter how you dread to go back.
But you know just because they are working adults doesn't mean they're mature people, have you encounter your colleague asking you to pass cheques to the boss office for signature because they dread going up? Not that I'm complaining as I can take a short break from my data entry job.

yap. In my previous job, even important letters we executive could prepare and sign off and done! and we could make some major decisions ourselves.
Imagine, here manager also get micromanage by her boss. I prefer a more independent working environment
u do hr one but u duno.
u either serve or pay.
no money, no tok.
easy. just tell them you will serve one month and they will ask you to leave immediately.
they wont want you to be around another second after knowing your intention to quit.

For me, we do have email that is being shared by the dept, we call it funtional mail box. So whoever dept or overseas send impt doc, everybody will know and everybody will be in the loop.
But we also have individual email or personel email. And msm also.
Talk to you HR about yr case regarding about the manager and the problems you are facing now.
Likely they have to spend more time searching for another new staff to fill in your shoes.
