Since the bus is an express service, it essentially takes the same route that I would If I were to drive. By driving myself to work, I'd be saving only about 5 minutes of time. Another advantage of taking the bus is, in winter, municipal vehicles are allowed to use the breakdown lanes on the freeways to bypass traffic that may be crawling along due to the snow.
As for monetary savings, lots! The cost of my employer-subsidized transit pass is a mere fraction of the cost of gas and season parking downtown.
