a pay rise with same job scope, same responsibilities

a promotion with no pay rise, new job scope, more responsibilities. -

it is possible to have a promotion with no pay increase
this maybe due to the fact that the pay of the job holder is higher than what the market is paying for the grade, thus the company decides to promote or upgrade the job holder without having to adjust the pay for this round.
the pay will only be reviewed in the next round of pay review.
personally...i would go for just pay increase and not promotion -

it is possible for a promotion without a pay rise. they give u a "senior" in front of your current rank and (probably) u suddenly find yourself loaded with more responsibilities.

I'll surely pick the promotion
An increased liability or a brand new portfolio will let me gain more insights, which will make me perform my tasks better and get a pay-rise eventually!

depends on my age.
If im still around 20-30+ Have the vigor to Fight. ill certainly go for promotion.
Once i have a family and kids to feeed. Ill opt for the Pay Rise. -
if im staying long term in a company, then i will opt for pay rise...
if im jumping ship soon, then prolly a promotion because i can use that as ground for negotiations at the next job... -

i am more concern about what i can do what i can learn in the process of doing what i do..so if with all the experience u earned it will be with u always and if u really cannot work for an employer anymore u still have the skills and knowhow and attitude to work for another.
