To handle this type of people is to start helping him less and less
Since he complain that u got less work and he got more work than use this against him.
Start to work on other projects and show the boss that you are indeed working, any project dealing with this guy, just slow down or hack care.
To a manager as long as you did your part in your own scope and you hold an important post your boss will value you more than him.
Backstabbing works only if his job value is higher than yours or rank is higher than yours.
Counter methods.
1) Start to ignore him slowly
2) Improve your work performance in other areas.
3) Keep complaining to your boss your work is getting to heavy and he is not helping.
