It's just not right.
Even relatives. My dad decided to hire my uncle in his company. Then got few office clashes. He resigned. And our family ties strained for many many years....

x2.Originally posted by Wanda:You shd have a talk with your boss/friend about:

Better to have an honest discussion to clear the air, rather than let the matter fester further. If it turns out things aren't working out and can't be improved, it's time to move on, perhaps?

Actually no point talking one...if he wants he will give already...no need say one. Besides he'd come up with some lame excuses and more empty promises.Originally posted by Wanda:You shd have a talk with your boss/friend about:

The onlly way is to throw letter...the he will scare if he lose mossie's service and then give him the proper dues...otherwise its better to leave anyway.

Hey, you know what?.. My case is pretty similar to yours.. My boss was my ex-colleague as well. The only difference is that my boss & I are like buddies. Trust is built based on communications.. of any kind.Originally posted by Mospeada:My current company...i have been asked by my ex-colleague to join him in the current company...where he becomes my boss
before i joined, he promised me tonnes and tonnes of things...like 3 month bonus lah....eventually i will go into a department that i like...
but know what?
i got to clashed with him to get myself redesignated...that's not the end..i still report to him. All my works go un-noticed. Pple only knows those work of mine came from him.
All was like " wah...a xx dept pple knows some much abt ops, marketing and strategic planning ah"
i was speechless
then came year end...i got bonus that of an average performer, while he got that of a top performer. i resigned to my fate...
just how bad is this going to get ?

May I suggest that you tell your boss how you feel. It may sound scary, but this is probably the first step to take, if you want things to change. try to create an atmosphere for this communication to happen, say at a pub, at lunch, or whatever that you may deem fit.
Performance appraisals are based on deliverables, and not how well your boss knows you. This is what I tell my guys during their appraisals as well.. If they dun tell me what they want, or aspire to do.. I wun know how to put down good words for them, when it comes to ranking..
Hope this helps, buddy..
