Doing only the things you are told to do, no more no less

take this case study for instance, u are given a job/assignment to do, will u do it as what u are told/instructed to do, no more no less?
for example after completing your assigned job, but u know this job will affect another job, which means u have to do extra job if u decided to get involve.
so will u do the extra job as well? or will u just do your original assigned job only, as what u are told. no more no less?

It depends on the consequences. Sometimes may take the initiative to do more, at other times, if taking the initiative is not welcome or appreciated, then just do as told - just do the minimum and bochap.

last time i used to do things out of my own initiative...but felt like the more i do, the more they will take advantage of me...
So now I just do what is within my jobscope, if they ask me to do extra, i will do it but will grumble a lot

i'm fine with going the extra mile and doing things out of my own initiative. but as time goes on, i find that the people don't appreciate me for the things i do for them. they will take advantage of us and take us for granted.
so why should we do it for these kind of ungrateful people. -
my original workload already enough to kill me..

the IT dept manages to trace it to my department, to the PC (not my PC, it's a internet PC for surfing the net), of course everyone inside including me just act blur and deny everything.
