Silly meetings

don't u just hate going for meetings? no i'm not taking about meetings with customers (those are very important). i'm referring to internal meetings with your own company/department's staffs.
it's just a waste of time. furthermore they tend to always start late cos of waiting for so and so and will always ended up into a talk cock session.
(yes u will amazed how childish those managers are)
how about u guys/girls? any stories to share?

Rarely have meetings, coz usually got people outstationed. Think the past year wow i can count the number with just one hand.

I just go sit and watch the circus.
But got to be fair, not all meetings are silly. From my experience, the smaller the group, the more productive. Big groups tend to have people who try to "act up" to make themselves sound important or intelligent.

no leh. meetings for us is also a channel for communications leh. just go in there, drink kopi, eat doughnuts. talk about issues that we face. hurdles lah. who/which dept giving us obstacles lah, blah blah blah.......buay song also can complain or whine.
and then also got project meetings.
our meetings hv never been about scolding or arrowing. if any reprimanding involve, it SHOULD BE one on one and CLOSED door! -

and oh, gotta add, we do give our colleagues a pat on the back for good job. we call this initiative, APPLAUSE. anytime some one go out of the way to do a job, they received this mini certificate and we gather in a group and clap clap clap.

Actually, there is some sense to it notwithstanding how frivoulous that may sound. My ex-company got meetings...but only the big shots meet.
Small flies don't need to meet because all the information (no matter technical or not) can be accessed through a system. To make things simple any idiot who has working experience but who just join the company can work immediately on the problem instead of having to work on the problem of getting the right information in the first place before getting to work on the real problem. -
yea i hate it too. every morning got meeting, den the manager sure fcuk those in the room. den every thurs aso got meeting, 2-3 hrs sianz.
