Are you safe to take leave?

i believe this will be the problem everyone will face. if i take leave or go for reservist, will there be anyone taking over my job during my absence?
isn't it annoying that one cannot enjoy his/her leaves without thinking of the pile of work and e-mails waiting for them when they get back?
especially if the colleagues refuses to share your workload while u are away. when customers calls asking for u, they will just say u are on leave/reservist, please call back when he returns etc.
that really defeats the purpose of taking leave doesn't it? -

when going on leave it's good that u can finish all your work before u go. try not to leave any unfinished work for your colleagues cos no one likes to do work that is not theirs.
so if possible try not to take leave when the company is very busy. -

my friend just started work last mon and he already ask for leave on that day itself... -
better don't. normally first 3 months is the probation period (depending on companies)so if possible don't take leave during this time unless it's very urgent. anyway don't think one will have any leave during probation period since u are not a official staff of the company yet.Originally posted by browniebaobao:Is it good to take leave when u are new to the job?

nowadays companies give probation period of either 3 or 6 months mah..
but so far companies that i applied for all 6 mths de leh.
but also good la.. wana leave no need give 1 mth notice.
i still enjoy the permanent staff's benefits. -

he could not have more than one in that section going on reservist at the same time.. -

Its always like that. When you come back from long leave, your work gets piled up. Before and After holiday is just work work and work. But at least if you clear a lot of work before holiday then hopefully the amt of work when you come back isn't that much..
As for leave.. i agree that its not that good to take leave during the 1st 3 months unless its necessary. -

kinda reminds me of a time, a lao jiao in finance dept went on a long medical leave. then like suddenly without him, the whole finance dept cannot function liao.

my senior colleague super "keng"...for this coming festive season, she has already started on her "long vacation"...from yesterday all the way until the end of the month
heard that she got into a huge argument with my boss about it, she said she is going back to India for a very urgent matter and cudnt get a flight back until the end of the month, my boss said if she doesnt come back by 26th of Oct she can take leave for the rest of her life
For me ah, I cant take leave that often, sumtimes even on public hols i will come to work cos nobody here can take over my classes So if I dun come the students will sit in the class with no teacher...feel very irresponsible if I do dat 
but if i cud take leave on Monday that will be good sia...got 5 days of straight hols...starting from this Sat... -
finally i'm able to take 3 days leave from yesterday to this Wednesday to enjoy some quality time at home.
due to manpower shortage, company was having trouble finding someone to cover me for leave. furthermore customer is particular about who is covering.
i seriously don't care anymore, if customer not happy, let them speak to the screwed up management.
