now holidays, played twice a week at HougangOriginally posted by zodi:when the string breaks after a fierce smashing session...
hehe besides the above occurence, usually depends on whether you play regularly or not lor..
if regular, see if you very fierce player or what... if very fierce, some may choose to restring every few months.... else, restring once a year or when you feel that the racquet has lost its tension... really up to individual player...
so how often do u play & where?
oooo hougang sports hall got a lot of courts ah...Originally posted by eagle:now holidays, played twice a week at Hougang
But I play non-peak hours
Maybe one day can join you all.... I think playing with the same group of people, cannot really improve muchOriginally posted by zodi:oooo hougang sports hall got a lot of courts ah...
hee dat's the advantage of being a student, can play non-peak hrs~!
glad to know there're fellow shuttlers out there in this forum!
hope that day comes in this new year!Originally posted by eagle:Maybe one day can join you all.... I think playing with the same group of people, cannot really improve much
My greatest improvement was when I played with colleagues during IA.... Became one of the worst players there, but then because of that, I learned a lot a lot... So now I better than last time liao... although still need more major improvements... At least now I know whether my return is good or bad no matter whether the opponent managed to return it a not

peak hours rate @ $7.40. vs off-peak hours @ $3.50Originally posted by bryanw:how much 2 bk the courts at the sports complex?
u mean when u hit the person u get the sound?!Originally posted by sheringam:Once I broke 2 strings in a day.
As long as you can handle comfortable with, you can restring any tension you like.
I restring to yonex bg66 at 28lbs. If hit correctly, you will always get the loud "BOOM" sound.
dunno leh... still my first self-bought racket... Some Yonex Isometric....Originally posted by zodi:frankly i don recall my exact tension as well.. coz usually i let someone else decide for me...
but from what i rbr, tension depends on the racquet's range and string type as well....
so eagle, wat string & racquet u using?
baseline to baseline depends on shuttlecock... If Yonex Areosensa 10 then can. If plastic shuttlecock then need quite a bit more strength.Originally posted by sheringam:If you want to produce the sonic "BOOM" sound from your smashes, you should try 28lbs.

How many pounds to restring depends on individual.
Start with lower tension like 21-22lbs first and slowly increase.
You must be able to hit baseline to baseline effortlessly numerously before you increase the tension.
Ok, if got chance i borrow u 2 rackets one with 28lbs and other 24lbs tension string. U see which one easier to hit.Originally posted by eagle:baseline to baseline depends on shuttlecock... If Yonex Areosensa 10 then can. If plastic shuttlecock then need quite a bit more strength.
yupz~! 15-20lbs then.Originally posted by eagle:Ok, on the racket says
3U 15-20 lbs
G4 6.5-9.0kg
Does it mean the maximum tension the racket can handle?
