really need to let my frustration off... cant help to throw all out...
I got a IBM 240X, no CDROM & no floppy..
Windows 2000 OS got crashed and decided to install XP..
took out the hard disk and plug into my desktop via converter..
everything go well and could boot up to XP without any problem..
But the moment I fix hard disk back to notebook.. it hung! tried using safe mode and found it hung at mup.sys... keep on running between the desktop and notebook.. KNN, need to screw and unscrew for the notebook...
surf around web and could onli do a chkdsk.. the rest cannot do.. Y?
desktop and notebook hardware different.. no floppy and cannot boot up.. how to flash BIOS....
tried to do a recovery on desktop but hung when booting into recovery...
Damn.. I am really piss at this moment.. maybe I got better luck tomorrow....
Please dun tell me to install linux.. this notebook will be for my parent, they had a little problem using windows.. not to event mention Linux..
Arrghhh.. fking hell microsoft..
my worst feeling is that i might need to reformat the hard disk, install win98.. then flash the BIOS.. and reinstall XP..

I feel your pain. mup.sys is a required driver file at startup for windows. You can find it under the "drivers" folder of system32, or the "i386" folder in servicepackfiles, which ever version is newer.

well.. i was thinking that desktop and notebook different.. so looking at my acer notebook and would like to put the hard disk in and do a installation agn..
but KNS.. cannot even see or figure where the hard disk.. Acer also another secret hidder...

for me, i dont dare to removing HDD so many time.(try my best dont even touch the CPU hardware). -
finally,do a work around..
get the notebook to fix to company desktop and downgrade to install Windows 2000..
I figured that the BIOS is outdated and therefore XP having some problems.. but i dun have floppy disk and cant flash it.
