Needing Help - Error Message about ps2.exe

  Hi all,
  
  Need some advice.
  
  I have been receiving this error message, "ps2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." whenever Windows XP is loaded. I have tried to click on "Debug", whenever this error message dialogue box appears. But the next time I restart my PC, the same error message would appear.
  
  Anybody can advise?
  
  Also, the accompanying problems include occasional freezed screen (as if the PC just hang), and not booting up even when the start button of CPU is pressed. Are these problems related to ps2.exe?
  
  I have Norton Internet Security and Anti-Virus installed, so it's not a matter of spyware, trojan or virus. I have also reformatted the HD and there was no problem, but after a few weeks, this problem returns again.
  
  So I would appreciate if you wouldn't diagnose the problem as spyware, virus or the need to reformat HD - I have done all that.

  Saw another thread about this some time ago. ps2.exe is a process for your Hewlett-Packard's multimedia keyboard. If you disable this process, some functionality of the keyboard (multimedia, shortcut buttons) will be lost but the rest will work fine.
  
  To prevent the error...
  Start --> Run... --> msconfig --> Startup --> uncheck ps2.exe

  Get a less funky keyboard.

  The keyboard came with the system, and is not that funky anyway.

  Does it have a CD that comes with this keyboard? I feel like asking you to uninstall this device and use a normal keyboard. But I am afraid of the repercussions.
