Buying the risk of PS2

  Hi, the other day I was reading an article about the PS2 which was brought from in from the other country like the US will be buying a risk to their console at the same time. They said those illegal console that not suppose to sell in SG will be experiencing smoke or fire from the console itself.
  I was thinking how true is it about this article? Fire seem to be very scary to me, it can burn down the whole house.
  But if I would to buy the SG version, I would have to start learning Japanese.
  I want to buy a gaming console help help!

  You can buy a US system. No problem.
  BUT you will need to get a step-down converter because the voltage used in US is 110V but our power supply here is 220V. So if a step-down converter is not used, you system will burn the moment you switch on the power.

  Look at the voltage rating...
  
  The US and Japan use a 110 volt, 60 Hz power source.
  
  We use 220 - 240 volt, 50 Hz power source.
  
  Ask your supplier for a step-down converter. I have no problems with mine.

  I think it will be safe. I have a connector below my plug as the power plug's connecting point are both slanted. / \ something like that. It's good to consult the shop dealer.

  Tekken 4 and Tekken Tag Tournament
  
  but I'm biased towards that series of games
  
  waiting for Soul Calibur 2 to be released. Heard got Heihachi in PS2 version.
  
  X-Box has Spawn and GameCube has that irritating guy from Zelda.
  
  The game of the year was GTA-Vice City. Heard it was very good.

  NTSC/J Asian surely is 220-240V.. NTSC/J Jap and NTSC/U/C will be 100-120V therefore need voltage convertor..
