Croc-a-doodle-doo
THE bird flu has hit not only egg-loving Singaporeans but also our reptilian friends - the crocodiles.
The 8,500 denizens of Singapore's largest crocodile farm, the Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm, usually dine on 1,000kg of chicken heads each month.
But after the Aug 18 ban on Malaysia's live chickens, there were no chicken heads to be had for love or money. Frozen chickens from other countries such as Brazil arrive in Singapore headless and feetless.
The farm then went to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore. Its advice? Feed them cooked pig innards.
But the farm has yet to put that item on the menu. Its manager, Mr Robin Lee, says the crocs are sinking their teeth into fish instead.
