Share some of the superstitions you know over here! Not necessarily those that you believe in, but can be those that you have heard people talking about, etc.
I will start off with one that I have heard before. If your left ear starts to itch, that means someone is missing you. If your right ear starts to itch, that means someone is scolding you
Guess which one of mine is itching right now?

N i had cuts on my ear lobes several time in my childhood for no apparent reasons.. so duno whether should believe?

Share with you all another one. If you don't finish the rice in your bowl, next time your spouse will have a lot of pimples on his/her face.

lots of superstitions... but i'm not superstitious
some are based on beliefs.. sorta like 13.. there were 13 people at the Last Supper.. the 12 Apostles and Jesus.. stuff like that..
oh.. this one i do out of habit... throwing spilt salt across your left shoulder when you spill it.. because salt was a valuable thing in the past.. and was quite expensive... spilling it was bad.. sorta like "the devil made me do it"... and since the devil was supposedly sitting on your left side (the other being right or righteous side), you threw salt at the devil there.. since salt also purifies... -

well, many years ago, i was in uni and we played with the salt shaker at the table a lot.. lots of spilt salt..

usually, we unscrew the top but it's not obvious.. use it with a finger to hold the top so it does not fly off..
the next user would not know and hold just the body of the shaker and start using it on his food.. the top falls off and the whole shaker contents empty onto his plate or bowl of soup

gives me idea now...but too bad the salt shaker in my dorm doesnt have a top that can be unscrewed

at night out in the street, when 'someone' call your name, do not turn your head right away.

Like another one is, when you pass by a cemetary, hold your breath and dun breath in, dun breath out
I actually tried doing that, then found out that the cemetary I was passing thru seems to stretch out for miles! Halfway thru, I just continue to breath normally again

Talk bad about a dead person and he/she will come back to haunt you..

cannot say bad things about people such like, that person very fat or has alot of pimples if not it'll happen to you sooner or later.
cannot cut nails at night.
don't throw books on the floor or you'll fail you exams.
cannot pile up plates after a meal.
cannot shake your legs! haha i get scolded alot for this. don't know why.
don't leave any hangers hanging on the pole without any clothes on it.
true or not. i don't know

walking under the flats where people hang their underwear. My auntie always tells me it will bring bad luck.

dun like it whenpple tap my shoulder....when it happens, i'll snap my fingers on my shoulder...look like it is "relighting" the fire..
when play mahjong, during the west game, cannot leave my seat..
if got 13 yao, run around the block one round..or not cannot game anymore...
if i get bus ticket n the number on the top row last portion add up to 13, i throw away the ticket immediately.if get 21, make a wish..
n dun laugh at other's misfortune...cuz i kena the same shit...many times... -
